Seeking His Face: A Daily Devotional (Hardback)Stanley, Charles F. (Author)
There is a hymn that tells us to “turn your eyes upon Jesus” and it is that message that permeates this warm, inviting devotional designed to bring readers closer to their heavenly Father.
As Christians, we desire communion with God. In Seeking His Face, Dr. Charles Stanley has provided 365 opportunities for anyone to experience a divine encounter. “We can’t manipulate these encounters” writes Stanley, “but we can make ourselves attentive to His voice, listening for instruction and direction.” Stanley urges readers to set aside time to meet with God daily; this devotional is an ideal starting point for anyone desiring a life-changing encounter with Him. Each daily entry of Seeking His Face includes a Scripture reading, a key verse, a brief interpretation, and a prayer. Chapter topics include forgiveness, intimacy, grace, personal ministry, and emotional healing. ExcerptJanuary 23 Accepting God’s Love SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 5:1-15 The free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. God’s grace saves you. No amount of your good works can do what God does through His mercy and grace. Salvation is a free gift that He offers to all who come to Him. However, some men and women spend a lifetime trying to earn the approval of God on their own and through their own ability. They donate time, money and energy to good causes. But at the end of their lives, if they have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, they remain lost and separated from Him. What would it be like to spend eternity apart from God? Many scholars believe once you die, you have the perfect knowledge to know either the eternal love of God or eternal separation from Him. Sin and rebellion build a deep division between God and you. Good works cannot bridge this gap, but admitting your need of the Savior who is God’s Son can. During your lifetime, God allows you to experience many opportunities—some are pleasurable, while others are painful. However, each has been chosen with the goal of bringing you into a closer relationship with Him. He is the only One who can meet all your needs. When you refuse His love, the gulf between Him and you grows deeper. His loving grace is your only hope. Stop working to achieve a special place in God’s heart. You already have it. Accept His love and you will be saved. Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Savior. Forgive me. Cleanse me. Save me! Details
