The book is a collection of 250 recipes evaluated with regard to their nutritional value, taste, simplicity, availability of ingredients and preparation time. The book also includes a few medicinal recipes for a basic weight gain shake and substitutions. However, most of the recipes are familiar everyday dishes with a healthy twist. Each includes an introduction from the doctor, doctor's notes, menu planning, shopping lists, high calorie variations, nutritional analysis, diabetic exchanges and a cross reference list.
