For more than two decades, Karen Clark Sheard and her four siblings, performing as the Clark Sisters, have been one of the genre's most popular and beloved singing sensations. It was the Clark Sisters who brought contemporary gospel a hearty taste of mainsteam success with their 1983 crossover hit 'You Brought The Sunshine (Into My Life).'

Karen released her first solo album in 1997, Finally Karen. The album featured the gospel smash 'Balm In Gilead,' and included collaborations with Faith Evans and Donald Lawrence, as well as a little family asistance from the Clark Sistesrs and Karen's daughter, Kierra. In 1998, Karen received a Lady Of Soul Award Nomination for Best Gospel Female Vocalist. In 1999, she received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contempoary Soul Gospel Album, as well. The crowning achievement came at that year's Stellar Awards, when Karen picked up four awards. Along the way, she appeared on such television programs as Motown Live, The Lady of Soul Awards, The Soul Train Christmas Special, and BET's Gospel Celebration.

The year 2000 marked a turning point for Karen in more ways than one. She suffered a near-fatal health setback during surgery, lapsing into a devastating coma. Karen miraculously recovered and now credits the near-death experience for instilling a renewed sense of purpose in her. In July2003, Karen released her much anticipated Elektra debut, 2nd Chance. The album won universal acclaim, and at GMWA 2003, she won two Excellence Awards.

Karen returns now with her new album The Heavens Are Telling, a collection of new live and studio tracks that reflect her passion and commitment to the heart and spirit, with unmistakable power and emotion. The six soul-stirring live songs were recorded at the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church Of God & Christ in Detroit, the church of her husband, Pastor J. Drew Sheard. The studio tracks feature production by Gospel's foremost producers, plus special guests including Mary Mary, Jackie Clark, Dorinda Clark Cole, her daughter Kierra and more.
