For thousands of years people have heard the story of a man who was eaten by a whale and lived to tell about it! But never in all that time has it been told by vegetables ... until now!

Get ready as Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber and the rest of the veggie gang set sail on a whale of an adventure in Jonah, Big Idea's first full-length, 3-D animated feature film. Filled with music, laughs and some of the silliest adventurers ever to be swallowed whole, this is the story of Jonah and the whale as you've never seen it before -- a story where everyone learns that one of the best gifts you can give -- or get -- is a second chance.

The Story

Get ready for the biggest event in VeggieTales history -- the first feature-length film showcasing the characters you love, as well as some new friends that will take you on the adventure of a lifetime!

The action begins on a moonlit night when a van of singing Veggies encounter some unexpected trouble. After a heated battle with a clothesline, a pair of boxer shorts and, yes, porcupines, Bob the Tomato and the Veggie kids find themselves at an old, rundown seafood joint where nothing is quite as it seems.

Here they encounter "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything," the laziest bunch of scalawags and biggest root beer consumers to never sail the Seven Seas. As Bob and the kids settle in to wait for a tow truck to help get their van back on the road, these curious Pirates share a little story about a guy named Jonah. As the story begins, we are transported to another time and place, where society moves a bit slower than in today's times.

Now Jonah is kind of like a mailman -- except his messages came straight from God! Jonah loves his job, until the day comes when he has to deliver a message to the people of Nineveh. You see, Jonah hates the Ninevites. They aren't very nice and worst of all, they slap people with fishes! Instead of carrying out his mission, Jonah turns and sets sail in the opposite direction onboard a pirate ship. From the hold of this vessel, where he meets Khalil, a chatty carpet salesman who just happens to be a caterpillar, to the belly of a whale where he meets -- whoops! We can't tell you who he meets there -- to the heart of Nineveh for a hilarious showdown, Jonah goes on an adventure none of them (including the whale) will soon forget! And everyone will learn that one of the best gifts you can give (or get) is a second chance.

Meet The Cast!

Bob the Tomato - I have the privilege of driving Junior, Laura, Percy, Annie and Dad Asparagus to the Twippo concert. Well, at least it starts out as a privilege. After a protective mamma porcupine shoots out one of our tires, we go speeding down a hill and end up just inches away from landing in the river, and then I take another one of those porcupine needles to my posterior. Next time I'll make sure to wear lots of padding.
Jonah - I have the great honor of playing the role of none other than the show's conflicted courier, Jonah! That's right, as Jonah, I deliver messages for God. It's the part of a lifetime. I mean, imagine being the only man who was swallowed by a whale and lived to tell about it! A role like this comes around only once in a lifetime. Wait a second! Make that twice in a lifetime. After all, this is a movie about second chances.
Junior - I play myself. While that may sound easy, try playing me when your friend Laura has a backstage pass to see your favorite singer, Twippo, perform in concert, and she keeps rubbing it your face until it flies out the window. Talk about divine intervention! Oh, yeah, and I almost forgot the best part. At the end of the movie I have the honor of delivering the message of the entire story -- that we need to give others a second chance, even if they don't deserve them.
Khalil - I am a worm! Or am I a caterpillar? I always mix those two up. At any rate, I play a highly motivated Persian rug salesworm, er, cater ... -- Oh boy, here we go again! -- named Khalil. After becoming a bit discouraged by my profession, I decide to set sail for greener pastures. That is when I meet Jonah. He delivers the messages, and I handle his licensed merchandise. It is a partnership!
Larry - I play Pirate Larry, the undisputed laziest pirate in the world. Of course, the only reason it's undisputed is that the others are too lazy to dispute it. Hmm, very crafty of them. My agent says that by not disputing my title, they are demonstrating a dubious brand of laziness that could pose a serious threat to my title. Or, by being so resourceful, are they compromising their commitment to being lazy? I'm not sure, but all this thinking has worn me out. I'm pooped!
Laura - I play the winner of the Twippo Sweepstakes. Not only does my character win a backstage pass to see Twippo in concert, but I am also the only one who gets to meet him afterwards. It's a very rewarding and challenging role, especially when my ticket flies out the window and we almost land in the river. All that action sure was rough on my new hairdo!
Lunt - Why, I play the role of Pirate Lunt, another official member of "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything!" You may not know this, but the entire story of Jonah hinges on one very important line, and I deliver that line! The line I'm talking about is "Remember when we did that one thing ... with that one guy?" If I hadn't said that line, who knows where the conversation would have gone. Instead of a whale swallowing an asparagus, we might have talked about a man who mistook his cheeseburger for a hat, and walked around with a mouth-watering cheeseburger on his head all day, and wondered why everyone was salivating around him. Until, of course, he went to bed and found, of all things, a cheeseburger on his head. Crazy!
PaGrape - Why, I play the role of Pirate Pa, an official member of "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything!" Our goal, to not do so much as anything, was working beautifully until some nut named Jonah asked us to sail him to Tarshish. If it weren't for all the cheese curls and root beer we'll be able to buy with the booty he promised in return, we'd probably still be talking about the last time we did something.
