Chapter One
THE FIRST MONTH * * *
DAY 1
The Attributes of God
You are my God, and I will give thanks to You; You are my God, and I will exalt You.
I will give thanks to You, Lord, for You are good; Your loyal love endures forever. (Psalm 118:28-29)
You, O God, are the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of
kings and Lord of lords. You alone have immortality and
dwell in unapproachable light; no one has seen You or can
see You. To You be honor and eternal dominion. (1 Timothy
6:15-16)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers
and perfection of God.
The Works of God
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made human beings the rulers over
the works of Your hands, and You put everything under their feet.
(Psalm 8:3-6)
O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, Enthroned between the cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth.
You have made heaven and earth. (Isaiah 37:16)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God's wonderful works.
My Relationship to God
O Lord, bless us and keep us; O Lord, make Your face shine upon us
and be gracious to us; O Lord, turn Your face toward us
and give us peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)
You have loved me, O God, and called me to be a saint; You,
O God my Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ have given me
grace and peace. (Romans 1:7)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with
Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
Lord, who may dwell in Your tabernacle? Who may live on Your holy mountain? Those who walk uprightly and work righteousness
and speak the truth in their hearts; They do not slander with their tongues or do evil to
their neighbor or take up a reproach against
their friends; They despise the reprobate but honor those who fear You.
They keep their oath even when it hurts, lend their money without interest and
do not accept bribes against the innocent.
Those who do these things will never be shaken.
(Psalm 15:1-5)
I will let my eyes look straight ahead
and fix my gaze straight before me.
I will ponder the path of my feet
so that all my ways will be established.
I will not turn to the right or to the left
but keep my foot from evil. (Proverbs 4:25-27)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God's wonderful
works.
My Relationship to Others
Friends love at all times; They are born for times of adversity. (Proverbs 17:17)
We must be devoted to one another in love, honoring one
another above ourselves. (Romans 12:10)
Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit
them to the Lord.

DAY 2
The Attributes of God
You, O God, are not a man, that You should lie, or a son of man, that You should change Your mind.
Have You spoken and not done it? Have You promised and not fulfilled it? (Numbers 23:19)
You who are the Glory of Israel do not lie or change Your
mind, for You are not a man, that You should change Your
mind. (1 Samuel 15:29)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers
and perfection of God.
The Works of God
One generation shall praise Your works to another, O Lord, and shall declare Your mighty acts.
I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty
and on Your wonderful works.
Many shall speak of the might of Your awesome works, and I will proclaim Your great deeds.
(Psalm 145:4-6)
Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity
and forgives the transgression of the remnant of Your
inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show
mercy.
You will have compassion on Your people; You will tread their iniquities underfoot
and hurl all their sins into the depths of the sea.
(Micah 7:18-19)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God's wonderful works.
My Relationship to God
You lifted me out of the slimy pit, O God, out of the mud and mire; You set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
You put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to You, my God.
Many will see and fear and put their trust in You, O Lord. (Psalm 40:2-3)
I shall know the truth, and the truth shall set me free. Everyone
who commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave has no
permanent place in the family, but a child belongs to it forever.
So if You, the Son of God, set me free, I shall be free
indeed. (John 8:32, 34-36)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with
Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
I will not let love and truth leave me; I will bind them around my neck
and write them on the tablet of my heart.
(Proverbs 3:3)
The love we have from You, O Lord, is patient, it is kind, it
does not envy; love does not boast, it is not arrogant, it does
not behave rudely; it does not seek its own, it is not provoked,
it keeps no record of wrongs; it does not rejoice in
unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth; it bears all
things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly
character.
My Relationship to Others
I will give generously to others without a grudging heart.
(Deuteronomy 15:10)
I will not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is within my power to act. (Proverbs 3:27)
Pause to review your relationships with others and to commit
them to the Lord.

DAY 3
The Attributes of God
You, O Lord my God, You are God of gods and Lord of
lords, the great God, mighty and awesome; You show no
partiality and accept no bribes. You execute justice for the
fatherless and the widow and love aliens, giving them food
and clothing. (Deuteronomy 10:17-18)
As for You, O God, Your way is perfect; Your word, O Lord, is proven.
You are a shield to all who take refuge in You.
For who is God besides You? And who is the Rock except You, our God? (Psalm 18:30-31)
Pause to reflect on these affirmations about the person, powers
and perfection of God.
The Works of God
To us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government is on Your shoulders.
And You are called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of Your government and peace
there will be no end.
You reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and
righteousness from this time on and forever.
Your zeal, O Lord of hosts, will accomplish this.
(Isaiah 9:6-7)
You, Jesus, will be great and will be called the Son of the
Most High. The Lord God will give You the throne of Your
father David, and You will reign over the house of Jacob forever,
and Your kingdom will never end. (Luke 1:32-33)
Take a moment to consider the greatness of God's wonderful
works.
My Relationship to God
O Lord, You are my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
O God, You are my rock; I will take refuge in You. You are
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and
my refuge-my Savior; You save me from violence; I call on
You, Lord; You are worthy of praise, and I am saved from
my enemies. (2 Samuel 22:2-4)
Who will bring a charge against those whom You have chosen,
O God? You are the One who justifies. Who is he who
condemns? It is Christ Jesus who died, who was furthermore
raised to life, who is at Your right hand, O God, and is also
interceding for me. (Romans 8:33-34)
Pause to thank God for the relationship that you enjoy with
Him in Jesus Christ.
The Character I Want to Cultivate
To fear You, Lord, is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding. (Job 28:28)
To fear You, Lord, is the beginning of wisdom; All who practice Your commandments have good
understanding.
Your praise endures forever. (Psalm 111:10)
Take a moment to ask the Lord for the grace to grow in godly
character.
