George Beverly Shea, Grammy Winner and member of the Gospel Music Hall Of Fame, has been with the Billy Graham Crusades since 1947. Affectionately known as 'Bev Shea', he has sung the Gospel on every continent, in front of over 220 million people.
Born February 1, 1909, the son of a Wesleyan Methodist Minister, George Beverly Shea made his first singing appearance in the choir of his father's church. In 1938, George Beverly Shea moved to Chicago and worked as a singer/announcer for the Moody Bible Institute radio station. In 1944, he became a singer on "Club Time," an ABC Radio Show. During a live radio show, a young man named Billy Graham first heard the honesty, integrity and beauty of George Beverly Shea's voice. In 1947 Billy Graham asked George to join him in building a ministry that would reach people around the globe. George Beverly Shea accepted and from that moment on, these two men have shared their lives and their faith throughout the world and continue to do so today. George Beverly Shea and his wife Karlene, reside in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
This album is a compilation and was prepared initially from the master tapes used on Billy Graham's "Hour Of Decision" radio program. Veteran musician, Bill Fasig, also of the Billy Graham team, went back into the studio and added some contemporary orchestrations and arrangements to these well known and best loved songs and hymns of faith. We hope these favorite songs will encourage all who listen to reflect on the title and message of this album If That Isn't Love.
George Beverly Shea asked that the focus of the album cover be the title and the three crosses that represent the greatest and costliest gift oflove that the world has ever known - when God the Father gave His Son as the only possible payment for our sin and therefore provided a way for us to return to a loving God.
