The eight eyes of the scorpion correspond to eight desires of the flesh and the carnal mind. The scorpion's legs represent eight roots of sin, or attitudes. God said it is at this root level that man must overcome sin. To sever a scorpions legs is to render it powerless to fulfill its wicked desires.
