Of course, in many ways it is inaccurate to describe Nicole as a "New Talent." she is well known and respected for her work as a singer with Michael W. Smith, as a Dancer/Choreographer with Amy Grant, and as a songwriter for Jaci Velasquez's "On My Knees." and she's no stranger to video either, having performed the Larry-Boy theme song in 1999 for the popular veggietales "TM" release, as well as acting in Carman's Yo Kids Videos, and in Tommy Nelson's The Visual Bible for Kids.
Still, there is no mistaking the fact that it is in her music that Nicole really shines. Nicole C. Mullen has that "Something Special" that comes along all too rarely. This is music that stops people in their tracks, that makes people sit up and take notice, that takes a noisy and skeptical crowd and turns them into a rapt audience. Nicole speaks with vulnerability and joyful enthusiasm about life as a believer in a fallen and imperfect world. Her songs speak of prayer ("On My Knees"; "Granny's Angel"), of perseverance ("Farewell"), of Racial Harmony ("Black, White, Tan"), of self-worth ("Homemade"). And ultimately, Nicole's music speaks of salvation ("My Redeemer"), for as she says, "Without Christ, I Would Have Nothing To Sing About." Somebody say amen.
